Time Never Stops: A Reflection on Life, Distractions and Priorities

According to Einstein, time is the fourth dimension. We all know basically about the three dimensions say-X, Y & Z. Considering time as fourth dimension everything starts changing and whole perspective of things gets a new face.

Now the question arise is that why time management is important?

One of my favorite movie is time machine. The story goes this way. The hero of the movie was a scientist and was working on different physics projects. He was in love with a girl. But suddenly the girl met with an accident and she died. Now the hero gets desire to bring back the girl and he tried to make a time machine. He was successful in making the time machine. But, what he found was different thing. He uses the time machine to go back into the time and try to save her girlfriend by eliminating the events. But he could not save the girl. The girl died in a different way. He realized finally that whatever he will do to any extent, he cannot change the past in anyway.

If you look a the clock, what do you see? You of course look at the time of the day. But if you observe closely you notice the sweep second hand of the clock. Now you think for a while, while you are observing the clock and its parts, even the seconds hand is revolving. Its unstoppable, right? Even if you stand there or sit there or go outside or sleep outside or have fun or work or do anything or take rest, its still working. Its continuous working. Similarly our life watch is also working and we are not aware that every second, we are moving towards death. When we will wake up ? When will be our now ? When it will come ?

Many people in this world are complaining about time. They will say the following things:

  • I don’t have time from my job
  • In my job I can’t get time to do other things (multi-tasking problems)
  • I don’t get time from my family
  • I don’t have time for meditation and exercise (not even few minutes)
  • I don’t have time for leisure activities
  • I don’t have time for family

In short for except job and work, they don’t have time for anything. Even for their own sake. I bet you that this is very blunt and stupid arguments people are making.

I am sure these people have time to chat but not for walking a few steps after dinner.

These people have time for Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc. but no time for online learning courses. They have time to watch movies on mobile, but no time to read book or exercise in the morning. I have seen many people in the morning opening their mobile and which even thinking their fingers goes around the watsup , fb, etc apps. They spend half and hour or hours in the mornings and loose the whole day of their life.

I am not against all these application, as these are necessary sometimes, but the impact of these things in our life is most negative and most important time consuming.

This is also one of the distractions.

For youngster, if they want to know the feeling of lost time, they should ask the old age people. The repentance, the guilty of wasting time in their life will be seen in their behavior. For some of the old angry people it’s not their nature made them angry it’s the frustrations coming out from them due to their wasted time in their life. Daily they realize what they have lost and daily they die with repentance till the end of life.

If we remove the distraction from our life, life becomes simpler. Now a day it is more important to not to do things rather then doing a few things. Removing our distractions like mobile, television, tablets etc will give more focus and productivity on our work and life.

But then how do remove the distraction, as when we come to know about distractions, it has already been affected us ?

We have to take steps towards it. This can be done initially by keeping distance with the mobile, laptop and television. For mobile, avoid putting the mobile near you at night while sleeping. This habit will have made to look at the other things in your morning first. After few days it may happen that you may forget the mobile in the morning. Television is also one the distractions. Don’t sleep while watching a television or go the other room if possible for sleeping. You can also do some meditation, prayer or self-talk at the night before sleeping. These things have a positive impact on your life.

While working also, keeping the mobile data and Wi-Fi off is also best option. This way you can focus on the work and also the battery in the mobile is saved.

Deciding the priorities and acting one by one is the secret.

First decide what is the most important to you and then act accordingly. If there are many things to starts, do it one by one and little by little as eating an elephant. But you should be consistent with it. Then only it will work. This is my own experience. Whether you want to improve health, work productivity, leisure, time with family, whatever it is. Just do it once and start after removing the distractions.

There are also times in life when we have to leave the decisions on time.

It has been my experience that whenever am upset with some problem and not able to find a solution to it, I left the problem as it is for few days. After few days or after sometime I am able to solve the problem. But exactly what happened. Why am not able to solve the problem before and why did  I sovled it later.

It has been my belief that there is a solution to each problems , puzzles, quests in the life. Just we need some time . Time to analyze, think, research about it. Also we are stressed with many things in life and that stress sometimes don’t allows ur mind to think innovatively or creatively. So when you are in fresh mood or in your free time, you mind becomes open and you started solving the problem.

Another most important factor which solves many critical problem is our ego. There is a story of Archimedes which you might have heard. Once he was bathing in water resting in tank. He was calm and quiet, floating in deep meditation. He was in search of an answer to a problem since many days but could not able to find. While resting in water his head became calm and cool and in this deep silence he forgot himself. In this deep silence he got the answer to his problem. He latter created Archimedes principle. He introduced the world the buoyant force of water.

So the point is, if you give yourself some time and let your ego to lose, you will be able to solve any (yes any) problem in this world.

Time also acts as a healing element. It bandages your wounds.

In relationship too, if you give time, platform, space to your partners, you will understand each other. Time is must for understanding between new married couple. But people nowadays in hurry forgot the basic element of life-time. They think that everything is as easy and fast as one + one = two. Still they don’t realize that even one + one for a small kid takes time to become two.

I have an habit of playing puzzle games, Sudoku, interlocked games etc. When I went on higher levels, sometimes I got stuck and when I try for 3-4 times and failed, then I kept it aside for some time. But next day when I am in fresh mood, when I come to home and at that time if I start playing, may be within few minutes I got the solution. That’s the secret of time. Just give some time to every problem and it will get solved. When we give time, our patience gets tested. Its really difficult, I can understand. Its really difficult to stop, to halt when we are on fast journey.
